Life at GAIS
Located only a short distance away from the city, Gems Akademia International School, Kolkata has been constructed on a sprawling huge site to the highest international standards. With its large open spaces and tranquil atmosphere, the School’s campus provides an ideal setting for stimulating young minds to explore their potentials in perfect harmony with nature.
The school offers students a choice between residential, weekly boarding and day scholastic programmes. All the programmes at GAIS facilitate comprehensive and continuous learning for its students. A child’s collective needs are fulfilled at the school (academic, co-curricular, extra guidance, meals etc.) so that once the child returns home, there is ample time for relaxation with the family.
Each day’s lesson-set at GAIS comprise healthy mix between academic and co-curricular modules. Celebrations, competitions, excursions, field trips and events form an important part of the school calendar. A plethora of cultural festivals from across the world are celebrated with zest and bring together the entire GAIS family (students, parents, teachers, and staff). At GAIS we strive to incorporate a vast and varied range of celebration and competition to increase awareness amongst children, such as World Heritage Day, World Earth Day, World Book Day, DEAR (Drop everything and Read), Mothers’ Day, Fathers’ Day, Grandparents’ Day, Good Deeds Week, Nature Walk, Spellathon, Fun Week, Monsoon Week, Environment Week and many more.
Residential and Boarding programmes also allow students to learn in a sheltered environment where wardens and teachers understand the needs of each child and are familiar with their growth and progress. The Boarding Houses are designed as homes, not hostels. Each storey with comfortably furnished Common Rooms is equipped with Dish TV, and ample space for socializing. Each floor of the Boarding House is supervised by an experienced residential House Parent. Many other residential faculty members are involved in the monitoring of dedicated times for academics, rest and recreation. They counsel students on real life issues, besides their academic concerns. The professional counselors and other resident staff members complete the pastoral team.
The school has a sterile vegetarian hygienic refectory with specialist chefs catering to nutritional needs of the students. Students are served with a bewildering assortment of dishes – Pan Indian, Chinese, Italian, Mexican & other Continental Cuisines. Non-vegetarian students may also subscribe to a non-vegetarian Dinner arranged separately twice a week at a nearby facility.
